HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
The Yachting World 5-tonner was the product of a competition staged by the magazine for architects to devise a family cruising yacht. Plans were made available widely and yachts were built around the British Isles and abroad. The plans offered three rigs, gaff cutter, bermudian cutter and sloop. Yachts were usually built with a short cabin, stopped short of the keel stepped mast.

The Cornish Yawl was designed by Roger Dongray and 45 of these lovely craft were built at Rock in North Cornwall between 1988 and 1994 as successors to the Cornish Crabber Mark 1 and 2. Measuring 7.5 meters on deck (9.9 meters overall) GLORY is sail number 12 (CY12) and I have owned her since 2013. Unusually for a yawl she was fitted with a Yanmar 2GM20F freshwater cooled 18HP engine and over the last 4 years she has been extensively refurbished.
There is a quarter berth on the starboard side, two settee berths either side of the saloon table and an optional “V-berth” at waist h... read more

A beautifully maintained example of the classic Loch Long racing yacht class, 'Puffin' was built in 1937 by Colquhoun at their yard on the Clyde, and is in excellent condition. She is hull number 13.
The design was commissioned by members of Loch Long Sailing Club to mark the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and to replace their existing sailing craft with a low cost design which was capable of safe use in the local conditions found on Loch Long and the Firth of Clyde.
The lines of the Swedish Stjärnbåt were adapted by James Croll to add a cou... read more
