28' Racing Trimaran. One-off carbon foam sandwich construction. Minimalist. Exceedingly lightweight and beautifully built with obsessive attention to every gram used in the build. Not built to conform to a rule, only to go as fast as possible for its size and my skills as a boatbuilder...and being first boat home.
In the 1980’s I worked with Nigel Irens, (Apricot, Ilan Voyager) and Adrian Thompson (Paragon) and since then it has always been to France where we looked at the progress in ocean going trimarans. These were some of the influences for my boat.
Carbon boom and bow-sprit. New, high modulus carbon fibre rig built and stepped in 2019. New lightweight rigging including carbon fibre diamonds and Dyneema cap shrouds by Allspars. New carbon mainsail (used once). Kevlar furling jib on Harken fuller. All sails by GP Sails. Harken 32ST winches. Very lightly used and waiting for the right owner to take her and win! Not been sailed since 2019. No trailer but has a shore cradle with trolley wheels. Can be dis-assembled - allow a couple of days. Just for reference, the new rig cost around 30,000 with nearly 10k of labour together with the high modulus carbon (8k) Carbon mainsail (over 5k with carbon battens), all the rigging by Allspars (carbon diamonds, including dynema cap shrouds etc etc) 8k, spraying it 2.5k transporting the mould etc. etc.but it weighed only 36 kilos before rigging, and it’s very stiff!
