The Hunter Horizon 26 was built between 1984 and 1988 to a David Thomas design. David had been involved with Hunter since 1975 who brought us the very successful Sonata, Impala and Medina designs.
In an effort to bring more cruiser orientated yachts to the market the Horizon range was introduced. The majority of the Horizon 26 models were bilge keeled but the odd fin is available. "Slipaway" is a bilge keeled version and has had a modicum of success at club level. She is fairly fast around the cans and will appeal to the cruiser who likes a turn of speed. The boat is in super condition and is in a sail away condition. The engine is brand NEW and has been barely used. The hull was epoxied in 2009 and more recently "copper coated" by a local yard in 2018.
Below decks is clean and comfortable. The upholstery, head and hull linings are in super condition. The cooker is unused.
The main was new in 2016 and the standing rigging was certified by a rigging company in 2018.
Below decks is surprisingly spacious when you consider her 8-meter length. What helps massively is her generous 6-foot headroom and equally generous 9-foot beam. This allows for a decent sized galley and chart table to exist on opposite sides of the boat.
The yacht is classed as having 6-berths. Ideally, the boat is more suited to 4 and makes an ideal couples boat or for those with a young family. The aft cabin has a double berth with an opening port into the cockpit and cubby storage. Outside the aft cabin is the galley with gas fuelled, Bainbridge Neptune 4500, 2-burner hob with grill, stainless steel sink and top loading cool box. The hob is brand NEW and, as yet unused.
Opposite the galley is the aforementioned chart table. The "seat" is at the end of the portside settee. Here you will find chart storage, chart reading light, 12V switch panel, GPS, clock & barometer set, and the VHF. Aft of the chart table is the heads compartment with moulded sink unit, wet locker and Jabsco, marine toilet.
There is a central drop leaved table with fiddles. Comfortable, well-upholstered settees/berth with storage behind and below. There is a clever double berth arrangement in the bow which extends by flipping the backrest of the forward saloon settee up into place. Excellent storage area beneath the forward berth.
The interior headlining, hull coverings and fabrics are in excellent condition. There is an opening deck hatch for ventilation and there are 12V deckhead and reading lights. The boat benefits from a Wallas diesel fired heater with a seperate tank.
The yacht has been used mainly for coastal cruising and a bit of club racing.
The inventory stated is in keeping with the boats use over the last 10 years.
