HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
The International Dragon One-Design needs little introduction as one of the most successful racing designs of the twentieth century.
The Norwegian design, by Johann Anker dates from 1929. In 1948 the Dragon was accepted as an Olympic class and the rest, as they say, is history. The Dragon Class has since been established throughout Europe and is still a competitively raced class.
DRAGONFLY – Dragon number GBR 453, SSR 15100 Part Three registered is one of the later Borresen built boats which are noted for their speed and craftsmanship build.
Out of commission for a few years and now requiring some upgrading.
Varnished mahogany hull, splined below the waterline on steam bent oak timbers, pine, canvas covered decks with spinnaker hatch, teak cuddy. Oak backbone.
Elvstrom and North sails, two suits of three sails. Furling genoa. Fractional rig. Sail area 298 square feet. Black anodised mast and boom.
