*The owner will include the price of transportation to Falmouth (or near) in sale price. The Falmouth Working Boats have survived as a class because of the oyster fishing which has continued in the river Fal for hundreds of years. The native oysters are grown in the shallow waters of the upper reaches of the river and must only be dredged under sail or oar by law. This boat is a lovely example of the original Falmouth Working Boat, her pretty lines draw the eye and the capacity for a huge sail area is immediately obvious from the length of her elegant spars, her bowsprit alone is 16ft long.... read more

The Bruce Roberts Spray described in Practical Boat owner 1995 as the ultimate Cruising boat, capable of comfortable coastal cruising and confident offshore passages. This 1991-1996 Steel constructed 36 foot Roberts Spray has been meticulously maintained by the current owners and I was constantly surprised at the lack of dirt or corrosion when delving into all the nooks and crannies and bottoms of the seemingly endless storage spaces. With a 12 foot beam and 4 foot draft the current owners have told me stories of cruising to france and exploring up rivers and the canals in comfort and ease. On... read more

The Freedom sailboats have unstayed rigs, meaning that the mast is freestanding and not supported by the normal set of wires called standing rigging. Garry Hoyt, a champion sailor and noted maverick, created the unstayed rigs to give "freedom" from the inefficient sail shapes of traditional sloop rigs as well as to give "freedom" from the compression and maintenance issues associated with standing rigging. The mast is made of aluminum and is set well forward on the boat. This means most of the sail area is contained in the mainsail. Jibs sails can either be overlapping... read more

BLACK BESS fished for three generations of the Chatfield family and was only sold on the death of Charles Chatfield to Norman Gaches in 1974.
