1979 bilge keel Westerly Konsort in good overall condition for sale in Calstock boat yard, River Tamar, Cornwall. (Near Plymouth) Reasonably priced to sell. This boat is probably worth quite a bit more than the advertised price but unfortunately I need to sell so hence bargain price.
GRP construction with white topsides and superstructure, twin bilge keels, transom hung rudder, self draining aft cockpit with tiller steering, Bermudan sloop rig and 5/6 berth internal layout in 2 cabins with around 6ft maximum headroom.
I purchased this boat several years ago and have spend a lot of time and money keeping the boat in good condition.
This was my first yacht and I’ve had a fantastic time sailing her single handed all over the South West, but now have bought a slightly larger boat so Astreaus is up for sale.
Significant improvements made in my ownership include:
Refurbishment of Genoa and spray hood
refurbishment of manual windlass
new battery charger
Carbon monoxide alarms and fire extinguishers
new Raymarine auto-helm
new solar panel and control panel
new 240v inverter
new clipper depth and speed / log
new sea toilet
new 8mm anchor chain
new new electric bilge pump.
The upholstery is in good condition, having been renewed in 2019 and the head lining is excellent (no sagging material anywhere!)
The main sail (KT72) and Genoa are in good condition
The anchor is a heavy CQR with 25m of 8mm chain and 30m of rope. I have sat out a gale at anchor in the Scilly Isles and she didn’t budge an inch.
The engine has been regularly serviced and runs perfectly (She has a Beta Marine 20hp- not sure when this was fitted but it doesn’t look old and runs very quietly - see photos).
There’s a fully functioning Raymarine Radar, see photos.
The boat is not fitted with a chart plotter, I have quite happily used my iPad with Navionics (and paper charts) for all my trips (iPad not included!) .
The VHF radio is a good one (Standard Horizon) with AIS receiver, very useful.
There is a Seago 2.3m dinghy with foot pump.
There is a stack pack with lazy Jacks for the main.
Recent new coat of deck paint.
With new anodes and anti-foul she is ready to go.
All lines lead back to the cockpit which makes her very easy to sail single handed. And she benefits from having some really nice Lewmar self tailing winches ( 2 x 16s on coach roof and 2 x 30s in cockpit for the Genoa sheets).
She comes with a cruising chute / Genica and storm jib both of which I have used and in serviceable condition.
Viewing by appointment only.
Astraeus is on the hard at the moment - so easy to inspect. The boatyard will be able to put her back in the water for you in April.
