If you Google the Kingfisher 26 sailing yacht and do some research you will discover that this type of boat, due to it's strong construction and seaworthy design is well known for long distance, ocean passages.
This particular example has been left to fall into a sad state of neglect by the elderly former owner who can no longer care for her and so she is offered as a project boat and is described as not fit for purpose in it's current condition.
It is a 26 foot, bilge keel sailing yacht built of fibreglass. She has a junk rig. The is a Watermota Sea Panther inboard diesel engine fitted but this looks to be in very poor condition and is described as for spares, repair or scrap - sold as seen. The stated year of build of 1969 is an educated guess.
She will require a total refurbishment. I am sorry but we won't be drawn into conversations about the estimated amount of work ands/or costs to refit her or make her seaworthy again. We would recommend you appoint a marine surveyor to inspect the boat on your behalf if you have any questions about the structure or details of the work needed.
The vessel is being offered for sale for £1 but there are some considerations and conditions.
The buyer has 2 choices immediately after a sale...
1) The vessel is currently ashore in the boatyard at Preston Marina and behind other boats in for winter storage, so extracting this vessel if it is to be taken away from here by road before next Spring will require significant work from us - to extract the vessel and lift it to your suitable road transport from its current situation has a cost of £500 inc. VAT. A storage charge of £5 per day will be charged until the vessel is removed.
2) Alternatively, the vessel can remain in it's current location - a boatyard where it can be worked on (subject to the general Terms & Conditions of Preston Marina) for £1577 inc VAT for 12 months, paid in advance. No monthly or other storage options exist for this vessel at Preston Marina for the first 12 months, after which time monthly payment options and/or shorter contracts may become available. It will become possible to launch the vessel into the water, subject to it being deemed seaworthy by ourselves, from Spring 2021, charged at our prevailing advertised tarriff. Other benefits of keeping the vessel here include a discount on most purchases from our chandlery which may well be handy for the refit.
i) The sale will only be agreed after satisfactory discussions have taken place between ourselves and the prosective buyer.
ii) No other lifting options will be permitted.
iii) We will not launch the vessel into the water before Spring 2021 at the earliest.
iv) The buyer will need to arrange appropriate insurance for the vessel upon completion of the sale (minimum 3rd party with at least £3,000,000 liability - such policies are usually easy to obtain and are usually very inexpensive)
v) The vessel may not be lived on here.
Viewing is available by PRIOR APPOINTMENT between 10am and 4pm (not Sundays or Mondays). No more than 2 people per viewing party (no children please). Beware that access is via. a ladder and the vessel's decks may be slippery. To arrange a viewing contact Steve on 07919 406636.
