TOLLESBURY AUTUMN USED BOAT SHOW 5th & 6th OCTOBER! SATURDAY & SUNDAY 10am TO 4pm!
SUPERB LIFT KEEL DESIGN WITH GREAT HISTORY OF MAINTENANCE!
1991. GRP construction with aft cockpit and tiller steering, lifting keel and lifting rudder, 4/6 berth interior.
Standard lifting keel with 1.2-ton wing, which enables her to dry out and rest fully stable. Major overhaul winter 2016-7. This included all the guides being replaced or refurbished as needed, lifting wires strops replaced, all turning sheeves checked, lubricated and replaced if needed, hydraulic ram serviced, electric hydraulic pump replaced. In other words, everything which could be done, was done.
In 2004 all antifouling was sandblasted off. The original hull finish was Coppecoat copper and epoxy, which had been overcoated with ordinary antifouling. Unfortunately, this did not bond well onto the Coppercoat, and was peeling. Hence the sandblasting. All the hull was then painted with epoxy primer, and the lead of the lifting keel painted with a special epoxy primer for metal. This therefore gives a double protection against osmosis, the Coppercoat and the primer. Standard antifouling has been used since, usually Seajet Shogun.
Standard Parker lifting rudder refurbished 2017-8.

âCocos' was built in 1991, being one of the last 31's which numbered up to no. 30. She was originally called 'The Blakeney', as the proprietor of the Blakeney Hotel owned her. She was sold to me in 2003 and renamed 'Cocos'. She is named after an island which belongs to Costa Rica, which I had visited some years earlier. She was very well specified from new including the uprated engine, and has been continuously improved and maintained ever since. I kept her in Bradwell-on-Sea Essex throughout my ownership, and she is currently ashore at Bradwell Marina.
