Alibi of Birdham
A very capable, tried and tested Nicholson 32 MK XI. She is in great shape and ready for her next adventure.
Alibi comes (not fitted) with Aries wind Vane self-steering, it is the Circumnavigator version purchased in 1990 from the factory on the isle of Wight, it has barely been used and is in amazing original condition, we have the original purchase receipt and letters from the factory etc. As well as the wind vane she also has a raymarine wheel mounted autopilot.
She also comes with a full cockpit enclosure, purchased new in 2018 along with a new spray hood.
There is a very good history file, `Alibi of Birdham` has had considerable amounts of money spent on her in the last 10-12 years, including a brand-new Beta 43hp
Engine and brand new PRM Gearbox/Prop shaft etc. The Hull was stripped under Surveyor supervision in 2011 and re-laminated. She was ashore until 2014 when the engine was commissioned, in the last 8 years she has spent only 6 summer seasons in the water. `Alibi` has had 5 owners. She is very well equipped and there is paperwork and instructions for almost every item on board.
I purchased Alibi and set about addressing some of the points raised by the survey. The rudder osmosis being the main point to address from the report. Considerable amount of money and time spent on the rudder as my plans for Alibi were to go offshore and further afield.
I also started to remove old fixings from deck which were causing leaks and dried and filled the holes using WestSystem thickened epoxy to protect the core.
Some of the cosmetic work included removing the old headlining which had been damaged by leaks. The new owner will need to finish this task although this doesn't stop you from using the boat as its all cosmetic.
Unfortunately despite having a wonderful summer sailing her on the river Orwell where she is normally moored I have to part ways with this magnificent boat due to family commitments. She is a wonderful and capable boat and has really given me the confidence to take my sailing to the next level.
Full survey carried out by a well respected surveyor, available dated Nov 2022.
