Tyrian's design emphasizes safety and ease of handling in challenging weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for both inshore and offshore adventures. Her wide sidedecks facilitate straightforward mast access, even during rough seas, while the standing rigging, which was over-engineered and renewed in 2024 by FKG Marine in St. Maarten, ensures that she can withstand the toughest challenges at sea.
Recently returned from a Caribbean circuit with a young family, Tyrian is not only a sailing vessel but also a home. The interior, finished in light ash wood, creates an inviting atmosphere filled with natural light. With plenty of deep storage lockers and a spacious saloon that can seat up to 12 people, this yacht is perfect for both entertaining guests and enjoying quiet family time on the water.

SAILING / PASSAGE MAKING
Tyrian was specifically designed for safe and easy to handling in challenging weather both inshore and offshore.
Her wide sidedecks make mast access straightforward, even in heavy weather circumstances. Her standing
rigging was ‘over engineered’, designed to withstand the toughest of conditions with much redundant capacity built
in. This standing rigging was completely renewed in 2024 by FKG Marine, St Maarten.
Tyrian is a cutter rigged ketch which allows for a very wide range of sail plan options. There is a demountable bow
sprit and whisker pole for down wind sails (spinnaker on board), a furler drum on the forestay (with yankee and
genoa no. 3 sails to suit), an inner forestay for hank-on sails (with 2 different stay sail sizes on board), a main sail
(3 reefs), a mizzen sail , a mizzen stay sail and a storm jib with it’s own dedicated halyard and hoisting system.
With 8 tons of ballast and a long keel, she is extremely sea kindly and comfortable both understail and at anchor.
For motoring, she has a 4 blade 24inch Maxi prop feathering propellor which is powered by a low revolution 80hp
Ford New Holland engine (supplied and installed by Lancing Marine).
She has a hydrovane fitted for sailing without the need for power. This provides a secondary rudder option too.
She also has a B&G T3 Ram autopilot fitted complete with NEC 3 autopilot computer, rudder feedback system
(installed 2023).
AT ANCHOR
Tyrian benefits from a very robust anchoring system designed for serious hold in heavy weather. She has approx.
80M of 13mm (1/2 inch) anchor chain and 100M of heavy duty warp on board for deep water anchoring. A 40kg
Rocna anchor (installed 2023) is secured to the chain by way of a Mantis swivel shackle and can be effortlessly
deployed by using the 2300w (24V) Lofrans Titan winch (installed 2023).
LIVE ABOARD
Tyrian benefits from 50mm foam insulation throughout keeping her cool in hot climates and cosy in cold climates.
She has a Dickenson Lofoten diesel stove (installed 2023) as her primary heating source with an independent
fuel tank (which can be refuelled automatically from main tank).
She has 6 berths in total (2 singles in aft cabin, 1 double in forecabin and 2 singles in saloon). All have lee boards
and lee clothes installed.
All below deck areas have excellent head room (the boat was designed for a man of 6’4” to be able to walkthrough
freely). The interior is fitted out in ash wood which provides a high quality, light and airy finish.
The saloon is spacious and homely with the central table permitting the sitting of 12 people maximum. There are
plenty of deep storage lockers and wall cabinet storage area built in too.
The navigation table has two seats allowing it to be used as a ‘break out’ area for eating etc when need be.
All cabins benefit from warm LED lighting for general use and separate red lighting system for use in nighttime
passage making.
The galley is well appointed and organised for aiding in preparation of meals on passage with a fridge/freezer unit
(refrigerator installed 2023, 4” insulation all round), double sink unit, hot/cold water taps, a saltwater pump and
plenty of storage space.
The heads are utilitarian in design, allowing for easy access to plumbing work for ease of maintenance on
passage. Heads pumps are manual and not reliant on battery system. Hot/cold taps to sink with shower head
extension. Outgoing effluent can be fed directly out to sea or via black water tank with macerator.
Both fore and aft cabins are private areas and benefit from large capacity storage lockers built in.
