Those of you who have never heard of a Macintosh 47 will be very happy to know that it is a great cruising boat and wonderful live aboard. The Macintosh 47 line of blue water cruising yachts was the brainchild of Mr. Herb Gutter, a former project manager for Hans Christian. Mr. Gutter saw a need for a more modern yacht that would be lower maintenance and faster. “Quality, craftsmanship, seaworthiness and safety are the four cornerstones of the Macintosh line of sailing yachts. Born from experience and tested values, the Macintosh 47 is a true performance Bluewater cruiser, crafted with tremendous attention to detail, crew safety and crew comfort.” The in house designer at Macintosh Yachts was Tim Kings. He did a great job. The Macintosh 47 is a beautiful center cockpit three stateroom cruiser with a long modified fin keel of 6’ draft, lead ballast, and a skeg mounted rudder. Similar to a Taswell 49 and Norseman 447, the underbody is modern and efficient and with the integral tankage she has load carrying capacity needed for cruising. With her long waterline length of 40’ and moderate beam at 14’4” she’s well-proportioned and at a 10tonns displacement weight and 42% ballast/displacement ratio, she actually sails well. She’s not a race boat but as a cruising home afloat that can take you anywhere, you’ll be very impressed. And I mean very impressed! Down below, you’ll find the that the quality of the workmanship and joinery is evident with teak bulkheads and teak and holly sole. The interior layout of this boat is most amazing as it gives you more space than a small condo. With three staterooms including the owners spacious aft cabin and ensuite head, there is plenty of space. With seventeen fixed windows and Lewmar overhead deck hatches and opening ports, you have good ventilation.
Waypoint 10 is hull No 4 was built as the 'Aston-Dyson project' in 1987. Peter Dyson and John Aston were both long haul pilots, I thought for BA, but it may have been Cathay, as shown in the list. However, she was sailed to the Med, where the partnership broke up, and sold on 1995 to Chris Browne a computer engineer who lives in Cyprus.
Chris kept her with very little use in Larnaca marina Cyprus until December 2017 when Demiredo shipping ltd bought her and complete refurbished her.
Unfortunately she is priced to sell due to moving to another continent.

The interior layout is a one-off custom build. There were originally two interior designs - the owners design with the large aft double stateroom and a double fore-cabin right in the bow, and a charter design with the aft cabin split into two small doubles and two forward cabins. Waypoint 10 has the large aft stateroom of the owner version, and the two fore-cabins of the charter version.
THE GALLEY
The galley is fully equipped with crockery, glassware, and cutlery for six, in addition to cooking normal cooking utensils. There are a large refrigerator and separate top opening freezer. Both use large holding plates and are driven by a single 230v compressor. In a typical Cyprus summer when cruising, one hour every 12 hours is sufficient to maintain correct working temperatures in both at the same time. The freezer is top opening, and the refrigerator both top and front opening, and both are well insulated, with substantial holding plates. The tops form part of the galley working surface, where there is also a double stainless steel sink. For cooking, there is a gas stove with an oven and three top burners. The cooker can either swing with boat heel or be locked in place. There is also a small 230v microwave cooker and one 230 V electric oven and two electric plates for cooking used with generator in operation.
Old varnish was removed and new Epifanes semi gloss 6 coatings was placed on the floor. 2018
2018 We paint the entire inner hull with first quality bilge paint (international). We service and install three bilge pumps for safety. (one 220v very powerful works with generator, one 12v rule 4000g per hour, one Johnson hand pump) all pipes were renewed.• Further precautionary we replace all through hull seacocks and vanes with a marine type bronze.
• All pipes of the entire boat were replaced by new marine type. Toilets, drains, water distribution, various pumps etc. Toilets were replaced by new Jabsco toilets, pipes were replaced by new no smell white double face and bathrooms were completely painted by same color special bathroom paint.

CONSTRUCTION
HULL
Construction consists of hand laid up 18 oz and 24 oz woven roving utilizing a ¾ Airex core over the waterline.
DECKS
Construction consists of hand laid up 18oz and 24 oz woven roving utilizing a ¾ balsa core.
The hull and deck are flange type joints mechanically fastened every four inches with 5/16 stainless steel bolts. 3M 5200 sealant is used for the bedding compound. The inside joint then chemically joint with three layers of laminate.
BULKHEADS
The structural bulkheads are made of ¾ A-grade marine plywood with tapered edges to allow proper bonding to the hull and deck, they are glassed to the hull and are mounted on foam compression pads to prevent hard spots. Then fiberglassed on both sides to deck and hull.
KEEL
Shoal and deep draft keels are one-piece poured lead bolted to the hull with eleven one inch stainless steel bolts.
INTERIOR EQUIPMENT
WATER MAKER

MAIN ENGINE
Ford Sabre 80 HP diesel - marinized by SABRE from the Ford 2712E heavy duty diesel. Less than 1700 hours. The original design specified a Westerbeke 72 HP engine, but the original owners wanted a little more power, and greater spares availability in Europe. Maximum power at 2500 RPM Regularly serviced and major overhaul in 2018. Note: the following repairs conducted during 2018-2019:
• Main engine completely overhauled (although not necessary 1500 hours since new) and also all rubber pipes replaced by original new, new starter, new dynamo, new Sweetwater pump original, all injectors serviced, new engine mounts and new engine –gearbox control cables were installed. Engine and gearbox are both indirect (fresh water) cooling for each engine, with an additional oil cooler for both (renewed 2010 and an anode added
GENERATOR
Westerbeke 10 Kva 120/240/220 v a/c generator, based on three-cylinder Mitsubishi diesel. Self priming injection. Slow revving engine produces 10Kva at 1800 RPM/60Hz or 7.5 Kva at 1500RPM/50 Hz, currently set at 1600/54 at 230 v. This is user configurable. All mains equipment on board is is rated for 50 to 60 Hz.
Indirect (fresh water) cooling.
The generator start battery is isolated from the vessel 12 volt system, so it cannot be discharged through over use of the main battery system.
2018 2019 engine overhauled 3000 hrs since new. all cooling hose changed.
in excellent condition.
RIG
She is a double spreader sloop with a cutter option. There is an inner forestay, however is this used for hoisting a working jib or storm jib, when conditions dictate. The jib sheets are run back to a cockpit winch. The main has a conventional hoisting slide system with a mast gate to allow the hoisting of a tri-sail. The mast mounts two halyard winches, four jammers and a slab-reefing winch. There are two genoa halyards, a spinnaker halyard, an inner foresail halyard.
She has one set of 120% Genoa on Shaeffer furling gear plus full battened main (purchased new in 2019.)
The working jib, which has seen very little use, has a single slab reef, and it balances the main well when double reefed. If there are three reefs down on the main, then the reef should also take in on the foresail to balance the boat. The cruising chute is also little used, and is stowed in its snuffer in the deck box behind the cockpit. There are snatch blocks at the aft end of the toe-rail to get the best lead for the chute sheets.
The storm jib and tri-sail have not been used for twenty-five years, and are pretty much as new.
: All standing rigging was replaced by new wiring and fittings ( 2018) (see the certificate )
• 2018 Replaced the main bearing of Shaeffer furling gear with original brought from USA. • Mast was removed and serviced and all cables and electronic changed new VHF antenna, Digital TV antenna anchor light.
