The Formula 28 is a classic 28.6 Foot racing yacht designed by Stephen Jones. She has an impressive pedigree and has been a race winner in Cowes, the Isle of White and more recently in WIORA. This particular boat is longer than most of her model at 8.67m/28.6 feet, and as a result, is both fast and stable and has proved to be a safe and reliable craft in the heavy weather of the west coast of Ireland. Her Yanmar engine was rebuilt and she has been recently rewired, with new systems and equipment fitted. She has a stepped back mast which removes the danger and inconvenience of running backstays, and a fractional rig which can be bent and tuned to maximize performance. She can be lifted with a teleporter (no need for expensive cranes) and she can be easily transported by trailer to regattas etc. This is an ideal boat for club racing and coastal cruising with a head (toilet), cooker, lights and up to five berths, She is less than two tons in weight and has Kevlar and chain mail in her hull which makes her both fast and extremely strong. She was recently surveyed and found to be in good overall condition.
