Yacht MALIN 24 ft overall length plus 5 ft bowsprit; Cornish Crabber (1977), laid up under cover in boatshed at Sandpoint Marina, Dumbarton.
Original GRP hull with varnished mahogany rub rails.
Original Crabber extensively improved: GRP hull has had recent epoxy treatment, also new stainless-steel bow and stern pulpits with stanchions and full guard-rail wire, plus new Yabsco flushing toilet in forward cabin and st st sink galley in main cabin. Improvements include a new unique, specially designed and machined, stainless steel keel-bolt, for the central lowering keel (bolt housed in glass-impregnated plastic ferrule sealed into GRP casing to either side); also new chart table (with chart storage).
Virtually new 15 Hp Yanmar Diesel engine; new bronze three blade propellor and st st propellor shaft with new doubled stern gear. Propellor fitted with Ambassador Marine rope-stripper protection.
Four berths: two in main cabin, two in forward cabin - upholstery in as-new condition; with locker space below each berth; large cockpit (fitted throughout with new Dekking) can accommodate two further berths with full covering cockpit tent.
Instruments include gimballed Sestrel compass, Garmin GPS linked with cockpit mounted Silva Navstar repeater, NASA Sting echosounder, XMDC marine VHF/FM radio, tiller Autohelm, Wasp traditional trailing log (Walker trailing log also available).
Navigation lights include masthead Tricolour, port and starboard rigging-mounted lights and stern light.
Cabin lights, 12V circuit-breaker panel mounted in companion-way with socket for 12V search light and 12V cold box (both included).
Gas alarm Sheriff SF detection system, with detector points in bilge below cooker and in aft locker below gas bottle housed in welded st. st. container vented through hull (CORGI gas safety installation approved); Grillogaz Nouveau two burner cooker. St st sink draining through hull with fresh and sea water taps.
Standing rigging stainless steel, running rigging terylene, tufnel blocks.
Varnished wooden mast (galvanised steel tabernacle fitted with 215mm hard plastic cleats); varnished pine spars (gaff and boom, plus Jackyard spars).
Sails: full complement of nearly new tan terylene, gaff main, jib, foresail, standard top-sail and jackyard top-sail.
Full covering cockpit tent with port and starboard zipped opening 'doors'.
Ground tackle includes 7.5kg Bruce anchor on 18m of 6mm chain, plus 7.5kg Danforth with 20m of 16mm nylon rope spliced to 4m of lead weighted warp.
Fenders various, ample.
Safety gear includes: XM 4-person life raft (SN 10308, due for service), two life buoys, Gas type fog-horn, Automatic fire-extinguisher in engine compartment, hand-held fire-extinguisher in cabin, fire blanket.
Recent (November 2009) Survey Report and valuation available, by Ian Nicolson (of Boat Data Book 7th Edition); Surveyor's valuation - GBP26,000, excluding trailer.
Price sought, GBP22,900 including trailer and nearly new Seago Yachting Ltd 230 inflatable; also included are cost of storage under cover at Sandpoint Marina until mid-March plus lift into water or onto trailer; and delivery over reasonable distance considered.
Seller prepared to take in small part-exchange a Drascombe Lugger in good condition. |

This is a picture of my boat a short time ago. Unfortunately it came off its mooring and went aground and has been damaged.
Before the accident it was a fantastic boat, really fun to sail, very well balanced and behaved. It comes with sails and spinnakers and a spinnaker pole, anchors, flares, instruments, radio, etc. This type of boat is featured in Practical Boat Owner December and January issues called "Dream boat for £900". A guy buys a hull and restores it. This type of boat is worth £2500 to £5000 depending on condition. Check the internet yourself. Because of the damage I will take a lot less.
The boat is afloat in Langstone Harbour and is paid up until March.
The History:
The boat is made from cold moulded ply and there are many 60 year old boats still in good condition. This boat is about 35 years old and was handmade by a top boat builder. Although she's old there is nothing old fashioned about her and she resembles a lot of new boats which shows she was well ahead of her time.
This boat needs somebody with carpentry skills to repair the damage. The damage is all above the water line. The work could take several days, but would cost little or nothing as it comes with most of the materials needed to repair it. The hull is damaged in three places. This would need to be patched with glass fibre and reinforced. There is also some more minor damage to the deck. The rudder needs a hole drilled or a new transom pintle which costs £18 on line. All the work needed could be done in the water in other words it doesn't need an expensive lift out. With the rudder re-hung it could be motored anywhere. I am selling the engine separately. I also have a trailer for sale (see picture). If you want to buy both I can give you a good price. I could lend the trailer to the new owner if he didn't want to buy it.
I also have two dinghys and engines which I intend to sell separately.
This was a fantastic boat that would out class boats costing ten times as much.

A Hand-laminated GRP hull using the best quality modern materials and manufactured in a purpose built plant under strictly controlled conditions.
White Gelcoat and Topside
KEEL
A lead bulb with 3% antimonal of approximately 630 KGs is bolted into a hull recess supported by a GRP keel frame structure. A single point lifting eye attached to the top of the keel.
RUDDER & STEERING GEAR
A transom-hung GRP aerofoil rudder with a laminated wood tiller.
SPARS & RIGGING
A deck-stepped silver-anodised fully tapered fractional mast by Proctor with single spreaders and a matching boom.
A carbon fibre retractable bowsprit by Carbospar
Dyform and 1x19 stainless steel rigging complete with bottle screws and toggles are included plus a dyneema adjustable backstay.
The boom is complete with an internal 6:1 outhaul and reefing line.
Running rigging includes a 2:1 main halyard, one jibe halyard, one fractional and one masthead genniker halyards.
Cunningham tackle is 4:1, cascade vang 16:1, two off jib sheets (inc fine tune), genniker tack line, main sheet and travel control line. Running rigging is a combination of Dyneema and Braid.
