Based on a 1936 design by Laurent Giles, the Vertue II is the latest GRP version of this classic small cruiser. By modern standards the Vertue is heavy displacement, but this makes her a reassuringly solid and stable yacht. With laid teak decks and quality joinery, plus expensive detailing such as closed fairleads set into deep toerails, the Vertue was an expensive yacht when built - the first owner in 1994 could have had a new Sadler or Moody 34-footer for very similar money. Laurent Giles design, Vertue 7.7m, carrying a gaff rig, with a retractable bowsprit. Fionn "V140" was built in Australia by C.Larrewyn in 1973, launched 1974. Commissioned and rigged as a gaffer. Present ownership for over 20 years. She was shipped over in 1997. Hull carvel planked full lengths of Philippines Mahogany, decks are laid beech, exopy resined and painted, hard wood frames. All her interior has been well fitted out by a cabinet maker, the original layout.
